“Something wicked this way comes”; “Stars, hide your fires!”; “Eye of newt…” were some of the lines uttered within the overall context of the performance of “Macbeth”, by William Shakespeare, last Wednesday May 15th. Miss Paola Morgan, Miss Mónica Zepeda and Miss Yolanda Mai attended the morning show held at 10:30 a.m. in the Library Aula Magna at Universidad de Los Andes, Santiago, thanks to an invitation received from Mrs. Paula Baldwin, professor of English Literature and expert in Shakespeare from this same university.
In just 90 minutes, ADG Europe, in collaboration with TNT Theatre Britain Company were in charge of bringing to life the ominous hazards and fateful misfortunes of the former Thane of Glamis, then Cawdor, and King thereafter, Macbeth. Director Paul Stebbings, and musical director Paul Flush, as well, were able to blend convincing body language, strong dramatized lines, appropriate incidental music and a naked stage thus producing the correct atmosphere and dramatic tone which stirred the audience’s attention and response.
We are very grateful for the opportunity our School gave us to attend this performance which reinforces the teaching skills and strategies we unfold and develop every time we see Shakespeare with our High School students.
